The 25 Species of Coworkers

Alice Handley and Kayla Baxter

The Drudge

What they do:

Everything. Absolutely everything. The Drudge is the one that everyone calls on to clean up their messes — literal and otherwise. The Drudge can always be counted on to arrange the meetings, finish that important project as the deadline looms, or empty the dishwasher in the break room. You name it, they’ll do it. While it’s nice to have someone you can depend on, it’s kind of depressing to watch this person have to clean up every mess in the office.

How to deal:

Definitely keep this person’s welfare in mind, even if it seems like your coworkers can’t. Pick up after yourself, so The Drudge doesn’t have to. Wish The Drudge a happy Monday every once in a while. It won’t kill you to be nice. Remember, a little compassion (and a helping hand, those coffee cups don’t wash themselves) can go a really long way, and The Drudge might end up at the top of the ladder someday. You’ll want them to remember you as an ally!
