9 Ways to Wake Up Earlier

Apparently, based on your chronotype, you will be more naturally alert earlier or later in the day. And your type may dictate when and for how long you sleep. But while a natural variance in sleep patterns is natural, it appears that the early bird is indeed the more coveted of the species.
We’ve heard it time and time again: most CEOs wake up before 6am. It’s often said that the most successful people are early risers – and it makes sense. Chances are if you get up early you spend less time sleeping, which frees up more time for other, more productive activities.
In addition, the early morning is often the time of day you have most control over. Unlike later in the day, very little happens between 5am and 8am that can throw a wrench in your plans.
But how does one go from night owl to early bird? And can you?
The truth is, no matter what your natural rhythm, many people have been able to train themselves to become early risers and/or need less sleep. We’ll show you how.

Wow I completely agree with kricka cuz I am the exact same way. I've tried to sleep early so I can "get up" early and I just lay in bed cuz I'm not sleepy yet. I have to be up til a certain hour, and waking up is a chore always, I am so not a morning person! Never will be, I've tried for years....

The person who wrote this is obviously NOT a night owl. I don't care how many years I have had to get up early, I never get used to it, and am never able to get to sleep before midnight. People like me are told all the time we can train ourselves, but it is a load of bull. Unfortunately, no matter how much I like my job, getting up early will always be a chore.

Good article. I wake up naturally at about 5 a.m. each and every day. I have done so all my life. My mom never had to call me more than once to get up. I once had a co-worker ask me what time of the day was my favorite and I said the early part of the day. I felt more energetic and ready to do things. She said to check my birth certificate and find out what time of the day I was born and I was surprised to learn it was early in the morning at 5:30 a.m. She loved to do surveys and find out what folks at work did and she said she read this article and it said that depending on what time of the day one was born was when they were at their best. Ummm. The only time I ever have to use my alarm clock is when I have to get up earlier than 5 a.m. I also don't go to bed until around 11:30 p.m. at night. I used to go earlier, around 10 p.m. after the news but that changed when the news came on later, at 11 p.m. and I just slipped right into the habit of going later. I average about 5 to 5 and 1/2 hours of sleep and its okay but I feel at times like I could do more. We humans are pretty adaptable creatures ourselves. Ha-ha.

The part about going to bed when you are tired is so true. I sometimes ignore that tired, sleepy feeling to watch more television and then when the show is over and I go to bed I have a hard time falling asleep. Great article!
