Everyday Objects That Have Gone Extinct Since 2000

December 14, 2009

New York Magazine has put together a list of everyday objects that have gone extinct since 2000, and you won’t believe what’s on it. Check it out:

1. Answering machines
2. Lickable stamps
3. Foldable road maps
4. Cathode ray tube TVs
5. Incandescent light bulbs
6. Paying for pornography
7. Smoking in bars
8. Fax machines
9. Hydrox cookies
10. Cassette tapes
11. The French franc
12. Floppy disks
13. Phone books
14. Polaroid photos
15. Bank deposit slips
16. Subway tokens
17. The Rolodex

What’s surprising is that some of these items, especially fax machines and phone books, are definitely still part of the daily life of an admin. And we’re pretty sure you probably are sitting under an incandescent light bulb right now!

So what do you think, admins? Do you miss these items? Are they really gone? Sound off!
