The Vending Machine Survival Guide

What to Eat

1. Beef Jerky
Try beef jerky in combination with one of the following (if available, in order of preference): an apple, a Clif Bar, a Nutrigrain bar, Sunchips, Baked Lays, fruit snacks, or pretzels.

2. Peanuts and Fruit
The best option after beef jerky, this combo of carbs and protein will keep you on top of things come that four o’clock meeting.

3. Sandwiches
If available, turkey and roast beef offer a low fat protein punch while bread gives you those carbs you need.

4. No Protein?
If protein isn’t available, you should be prepared by having some nonfat Greek yogurt in the company fridge. I realize this won’t help you if you haven’t planned ahead, but you should, as Greek yogurt is high in protein and a perfect base for vending machine additions. Add carbs like a crumbled Nutrigrain bar, fruit snacks, trail mix, or (worst case) cookies to your yogurt and get back to work feeling full and satiated.

So now that you know there ARE a better ways to eat from your old pal in the break room, what foods should you avoid altogether?
