My supervisor has asked me to find a way of e-mailing phone messages over Microsoft Outlook. He wants it to visivly show up as a phone message in the inbox so it's not confused as a meeting notice, or e-mail message. Anyone know of a way to creat a typed phone message in Outlook?

We have a software called Nortell Call Pilot which indicates in our Outlook email that we have a message on our phones.  Once played, the Nortel software allows us to forward the voice mail just like it was an email message.  Since I am not in IT, I am not sure of any of the particulars.  We use it alot, though, and it works very well.  The message is still a voice message (you can listen to it over your computer).  I would think you would need some type of voice recognition software to turn the phone voice message into text.  The voice mails are clearly denoted as such in Outlook.

Outlook has no way of accessing your voicemail system.  You'd need some 3rd party software that is compatible with both your voicemail system and Outlook and Exchange Server (I'm assuming your company used Exchange Server as your e-mail base).

Otherwise, your only other option is to manually type the phone messages into an e-mail, and set up a rule on his Outlook to use a certain color or flag for those e-mails.

I did some original research on this.  Outllook 2007 does have the capability of e-mailing voicemail.  I believe you have to be working on an Exchange Server to use the capability.  I haven't used this functionality, so I can't say for sure what the requirements for it are.
