I like Office Depot, cause they have Free Next Day Shipping. However, I was on the phone with one of the customer reps the other day looking for an item and this lady was kinda feisty with me. Maybe she was having a bad day.

Anyway, who do you use? Know one that is better than Office Depot?

Not sure if you have seen my profile but I work for BuyOnlineNow.com, which is an online office supply store.  Therefore, my answer to your question of "Know anyone that is better than Office Depot" would be pretty biased from the start.  But I actually have never been to Office Depot or ordered online from them so I can't give you an opinion about their service or give you an honest comparison between my company and them.

Instead, I can give you the main facts of BuyOnlineNow and maybe you can check us out.

  • We are committed to customer service.

  • Free shipping on order over $99.

  • Fast Delivery -- Most orders placed by 2pm will ship same day.

  • "No Spam" Email Policy

You can read more on these at www.buyonlinenow.com/information.asp?bdy=aboutus.  If you have any questions or would like more information, feel free to send me a message on here or email me at lhurley@buyonlinenow.com

Before I was an admin I was a Customer Service Rep at Quill, which is now owned by Staples. I always thought they had pretty good deals on stuff. You get free shipping on anything over $45 and if you're lucky enough to be near one of their distribution centers, ordering in the morning usually means you'll get something same day or next day without paying extra. You can order online or by phone.

I order all of our office supplies online through Stapleslink.  It's a website for businesses.  It is GREAT!  I place all my orders online and get free next day shipping.  If anything comes in wrong or damaged--I do an online return, they send me a label to send in the product or tell me to throw it away.  I love the convenience of ordering anytime during my work day and receiving the products next day.

Our company has a blanket purchase request with SANDIA OFFICE SUPPLIES. We live in the Southwest and this is a big player in the office supplies industry.  Before they got the contract, we had OfficeMax.

Our company is required to purchase everything through Corporate Express.  Even though they were recently bought out by Staples we still do not have the benefit of all of Staples selection.  The upside is they negotiate some awesome rates so it keeps our supply cost way low.

I've found office Max to be the cheapest and they do next day shipments and no shipping cost on orders over $50.00.

I have used many different companies over the years but I have found that I prefer the person that actually answers the phone and really works for your business. Ordering on-line is convienent, however it is impersonal and there's no help for someone like me who doesn't always know how to find the requested office product. It's hard to get an expert opinion on-line also. I just loved the guy I used to work with at my last job as I am now in a better position and don't order the office supplies anymore. His name is Mike Rizzo and he works for a company called Blackhawk. He always helped me find what i needed and took away time consuming searches. Google it if your in the market for some oldfashoned customer service with a smile.

Oh it can be hard to find items you need on online shopping, but you can also get the stores cataloge that lists every item they sell and it's item number, so you can look it up online to see a bigger visual and more discription. I've delt with Office Depot and Office Max on the phone and both are very helpful if you like ordering by phone. I've just found Office Max to be the cheapest and I'm all about the best deals or sales.

I also use Stapleslink. I like that the order minimum for free shipping is only $30 instead of the $50 i used to pay at Office Depot. Plus they give me a card i take to their Staples store and I get my stapleslink prices (which have been lower than Depot and Office Max). I do all my printing and binding at the store because I get 10% off with my card. Their customer service has been really patient with me, they don't seem to mind helping me find stuff (which is all the time). I live in Bradenton/Sarasota and my rep who signed me up from Staples was really helpful and friendly. He still emails me from time to time even though I have an account manager. If you live in Florida email him at staples.com">jacob.smith@staples.com.

Typically I use Staples. However lately I have been finding that Quill (www.quill.com) has lower prices on toners for our Xerox printers. Sometimes it pays to shop around.

I use to do all the ordering of supplies for my firm as well and if your in the Mass., N.J. areas I suggest you try W.B. Mason, they're a company based out of Brockton, MA but I know you can check them out online as well and they state they ship UPS (which I assume that's for anyone not in those two states) if you are in Mass. or N.J. then they will deliever by their own trucks next day delievery and I believe they also offer free shipping for orders over $50.00.

I find they have lower prices than all the other supply stores in this area (like Staples, Office Depot, Office Max, etc.) and if you set up an account with them, they will assign a Rep. to handle all your needs and if you ever find an item that is listed as a lower price at any of the Major chain stores, you can call your Rep. and WB Mason will match that price or in some cases I've gotten them to go even lower than the other companies.  In most cases they will do just about anything to accommodate you.  And if you ever need to return anything you can just call them and they will send out the new item and the drive will take back the incorrect item or damaged item.

Their customer service people are pretty nice too, every time I have ever had to call them they are very pleasant and also accommodating.

Outside of WB Mason, I have on very few occasion used Staples because you can get a business account with them and they will give you reward points and stuff (you would have to check that out to see exactly what they give you).  But on that rare occasion it was due to the fact that WB Mason either did not carry that particular brand item or the exact style I needed or something like that, but in 99% of the time they have the same exact items places like Staples has, and they are much better prices.    www.wbmason.com

When I took over the Office Manager responsibilities, I looked at every option available for ordering office supplies, creating a mock order and comparing prices.

I used Sam's Club, Stapleslink, Office Depot, Quill, BuyOnline.com, Officemax and the Supply Room for standard office supplies. While it varied from week to week I know I saved aproximately 125.00 the first time I ordered. Again, pricing and product availability varied from day to day, but I found myself frequently using Office Depot for office supplies and Sam's Club for janitorial supplies.

It does pay to shop and to be patient!

Hope that helps!!

At my last job, we used Staples, and I was extremely happy with their service.  We had used Office Depot prior to Staples, but we had some fraud on one of our cards.  We cancelled the card and had a new one reissued.  Two months later, they put new charges through on the cancelled card, and we had to jump through all kinds of hoops to get the charges dismissed.  Needless to say, our finance director was less than happy with them, and we moved to Staples.  Never had a single customer support issue with them.  They were great, and we got next day shipping on almost all of our orders, with free shipping if you ordered over $40 at a time.

I like Office Depot and the Supply Room.  Guy Brown is good but you need to get your quote in writing.

I'm based in the UK and i use Easycrane for my office supplies.

I have found from previous experience that it is best to get a quote in writing from an office supplies company and get them to beat all your current price (if you already have a supplier). You can see some great savings instantly.

I've always gone for smaller businesses and local ones too as i find you get a much more personal service

We run over to Office Depot when we need supplies.  I love it there!

On a sidenote, I got the cutest Dickies make-up bag from Office Depot of all places!

On one more sidenote, I am wondering where we got out emergency kit.  I left my Advil at home and I have a pretty good sinus headache going on, so I went to the kit and got some Ibuprofin.  I'm curious as to why "420" is printed on the pills lol!  Guess we'll find out soon!  Eek!

Our company has a contract with OfficeMax, so most of our office supplies come from there.  We used to have a contract w/ OfficeDepot, but after we switched to OfficeMax, OfficeDepot won't even accept purchase orders from us!  What the heck.

I've tried Staples once but that failed - they wanted payment before shipping the item, so I placed the order and requested a check from our accts payable.  When I got the check a week later and called in to confirm that my order was still valid, Staples informed me that my order was cancelled because I didn't pay.  Ugh - I will never shop w/ Staples ever again.

I buy my own basic supplies.  That way I can get exactly what I like.

I work for a state run organization and each department has its own budget.  The budget is very small and is replenished only once a year.  If we use up our funds before the end of the fiscal year, we can't order any further supplies until the beginning of the new fiscal year.  It just makes more sense for each of us to buy our own personal items for our desks.  Major purchases such as paper, toner, etc come out of the budget.
