My first job was being a camp counselor for 6-10 year olds. Now I know I can handle anything.

I worked in a grocery store as a checkout/bagger (worked my way up woth checkout.) I remember this old  lady telling me to turn down the AC once because it was too cold in the store. I was like "Lady, you are standing right next to freezer aisle. We don't even have AC in here."

My first real job was the summer between my senior year of high school and my freshman year of college. I got a job, through family friends, working in an accounting office of a glass factory. Here are the things that made this job rediculous:

1. My hours were 630am - 230pm, and it was 30mins away from my house, meaning id have to wakeup at 530 every morning.

2. The two woman I worked with had the dirtiest mouths I've ever heard.

3. My last day of work, I gave one of the woman a boombox and a  Best of Greatful Dead CD, and she was so happy that she cried and gave me a big hug.

...and that it the story of my first real job.

My first job was actually two jobs when I was 13. After moving to Reno, Nevada from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, there was such an emphasis on the *right* clothes to fit in, I decided to work in order to buy all those pricey Izod and Polo shirts and of course a pair of leather Perry topsiders to fit in with all of the other trendy kids!

I worked for my father putting together and performing light maintenance on Yamaha motorcycles which was a challenge, but also a blast. I also lied about my age and got a job selling newspaper subscriptions a few nights a week. That job was great for getting me used to dealing with people, allowed me to make some helpful connections with upper classmen for the following year when I began high school and perhaps most importantly, a few interesting stories of my crew's misadventures!

My very first job was at the local supermarket.  Started out as a grocery bagger, moved to cashier.  I really liked the job, and helping the customers, but man I hated the boss.  He wasn't in the least bit accomodating as far as my high school activities, and always wore the same few dingy, short-sleeved button-down shirts and he smelled weird.  Ah, good times!

this wasn't my first job, but it was my first two admin positions.  I completed my Associates in a medical office administration program in may of 2007.    I had to complete an internship so I volunteered at a local hospital in their human resources office.  No lie, all i did there was read their benefits book over and over and over.  Occasionally the phone would ring and I would answer it.  (yay, I'm busy now!!)   When this most boring internship was over, I accepted a position as a secretary/transcriptionist for an insurance adjuster's office.  Well first off, I had seen this listing posted 3 times in just 2 months, yet at the time I was just so desperate to start working so I  ignored my gut feeling and went on the interview and was offered a position with this company.  After working there I realized why this position had been posted so many times..   The environment was abusive, the adjusters were rude, gossipy, and still had that middle school mentality going on.  When one person left the office, they would talk about them and say the most disgusting things... I kinda imagine what they said about me.   Anyways,  I quit with no job to go to because I couldn't deal with those uppity brats.

My first job was when I was 14 and I was a teacher's assistant in the summer for 5th graders transitioning to the middle school I was attending in what is known as the low-income, Mexican side of town where I grew up. Because of the environment, there were always fights breaking out during lunch periods between peers and 6th graders would run in the hallways and such so the idea was to have a "camp" for those new students entering a school where they would have multiple classes with a schedule, a locker, and come in contact with some pretty rowdy students. I was a peer mediator at my school which was why I was chosen to help. I had my own class where I taught conflict resolution since I had been trained over a year in the subject. I did that for 3 summers. It was so much fun! The kids were kinda annoying, but it was a great experience. The teachers saw us (the student teacher's assistants) almost as colleagues and were very comfortable being themselves around us. Our Vice Principle, an ex-Super Bowl champ, would take us to his house on the lake to go jet skiing at the end of each program.

After that, when I was 16, I got a job as a cashier/stocker at Party City.

My first job was working for my aunt's business which produces the name badges for companies such as Wal-Mart.  I was pretty young and just did general assembly type things to help out.

My first actual paid job, I was 15 years old and worked as a clerk at a cookie shop in the food court of the local mall.  It was pretty fun at first, then when I turned 16 and could bake cookies (by law), the owners started having me open and close the store by myself, bake cookies, and tend to customers in the front, while they smoked in the back (yes, around the cookies) and goofed off.  I had to quit, I was afraid I would mess up one of the register tills or something of that nature.  It did teach me quite a bit of responsibility but since I had been "working" from such a young age, I was already pretty responsible.

My first job was as a cook at a restaurant in an amusement park...45 minutes away from home.  Worked an average of 12 to 15 hours a day, 6 days a week during the summer.  Lost 25 pounds while working there as we only got one meal a day if the boss remembered to send you on break....I didn't need to lose the 25 pounds at the time because as it was I only weighed 120 when I started.  As you can guess I left there weighing 95 pounds.  Hated the job because of the long hours, would often get home around 1 in the morning and needed to be back there by 7 in the morning.

My first real, post college job, was working as a customer service assistant at a large musuem; I had to talk to frustrated memebers every second of my job. While it was a really frustrating job at the time, it really helped me deal with difficult problems with collegues as well as to respect every rung of any company.

My first real paid job was working in a smoothie shop the summer after I graduated from high school. The best part was definitely free smoothies!

When I was a teenager I wanted to be a waitress, because you would earn tips and always have cash on hand.  Well, at 15 no restaurants would hire me...so I took a job at Arby's.  Worked there for almost 6 months....til the time when my manager asked me to go the the bathroom and clean up the mess after someone had thrown up.   I told my manager that I don't get paid enough to clean up that mess and left.  Thankfully I didn't have to use them as a reference when I got my next job...as a waitress in a coffee shop.  Now that was the BEST job I ever had (pre college days)

My first job out of high school was as a phone operator at a retail store.  After 9/11 the company declared bankruptcy and we went through liquidation.  It was only after we knew we were going to be losing our jobs that we all started enjoying our jobs MORE and getting along better with the people we worked with.

This was my first real job experience and I feel fortunate to have had it.  I learned quite a bit and gained a lot of experience working with different personalities.

I am thankful for the man that gave me my position.  I had originally applied to be a cashier and he instead put me in the office as the receptionist.  I feel like this move set me on the career path I am on now.

My first job was working for a candy store called Lewis Fine Candies in the mall. It was very popular, of course there was candy all kinds, popcorn, drinks but what got me most...we mad fresh carmel corn popcorn people would see you standing over that vat making fresh carmel corn dump it in the bin and they still asked "Is that FRESH?!?" It wasn't getting any fresher...people were so stupid. I worked there for about a year. The owners were great people!

My first job was at McDonalds. I thought it was a decent job until during the summer, I was working the opening shift 5 AM and would not get a first break until after 10, if I got one in the morning at all! Then the manager would give breaks to people who started after me before I would get one. Made me crazy! I know it was minimum wage so, I guess I should not have expected too much consideration. I know now that working fastfood is yucky!

Thank God I learned how to type and work with paperwork. I love my job now!!!

My first job, oh what memories, I worked for a Carnival.  What a learning experience that was....at the age of 14 I began working for a wonderful Swedish lady that needed help running a concession stand.  She and her husband owned the Carnival I worked with for three years during summer breaks from school.

Through the Cooperative Office Eduation program at my high school, I was hooked up with a sweet Admin position at a nursing home. It was awesome to get school credit and an hourly wage. The nursing home residents were so wonderful and kind. I had great mentors and coworkers who taught me things I still use to this day (which seems kinda crazy since that was 14 years ago!). I worked there all throughout high school and was very sad when I had to leave that job in my hometown for college. It was a great place to start my admin career.

My first job was in Patient Transportation at a major trauma center.  It does not really matter if I liked my first job or not.  My first job was a learning tool.  How to get along with others, how to work as part of a team, how to stop complaining, how to work with a boss, and when to keep my mouth shut or open it .  My first job lasted 3 years.  How about you?

My first real job (after I was married) was at McDonalds!  The worst part of this job was when we would get bus loads of tourist in.  I sure did learn alot about people and customer service.
