Has Your Boss Turned You Into a Coffee Go-Fer?

Posted 5 months ago Problem: Do you have a boss who loves to drink coffee but tells you he's too busy to get it himself? So he expects you to be his coffee go-fer. If there's a coffee maker in the kitchen, he'll have you fetch him numerous cups throughout the day. Or he'll ask you to "run down the street" to get a name brand cup o' joe from a coffee cafe. Or, he's such a coffee-holic, he installs a coffee or espresso machine in his office...so you have to make the coffee, clean the pot and even "fluff" the milk to make the perfect cappuccino. Solution: Buy one of those hats designed to hold two cans (usually of beer) on either side, with straws going directly to the mouth. Instead, put two covered cups of hot coffee in these holders and force your boss to wear the hat. If he isn't embarrassed by his ridiculous demands for you to constantly get him coffee, he shouldn't be embarrassed to wear a ridiculous hat! |

Posted 5 months ago I have an idea that could net you some extra cash. When or If you bring that coffee, bring an empty cup too and tell your boss that it's for the mandatory $1 tip for fetching their coffee. After all, wouldn't they have to tip the person who serves or delivers it? Why should you be any different. If they pay the $1 tip, then you have a small fortune and they clearly have a big problem!

Posted 5 months ago I've had co-workers send me out for pizza, snacks, reading materials, etc. But the one "request" that I refused to fill was one that involved me putting a bag of popcorn into the microwave oven and bring it to him when it was done because he was too busy on the phone with a client to do it himself!! So not only was he ordering me to prepare and serve his stupid popcorn, but he was going to eat it while on the phone with a client!! The nerve of some folks!

Posted 5 months ago I've gotten water and snacks for people. I also regularly go out and get lunch if it's for a group. As in for the whole staff or for a meeting. I am always careful, however, to note the mileage for reimbursement and if I'm eating it I make sure we're ordering from somewhere I like. But I refuse to go get a single person's lunch, even my boss. She asked me only ONCE. She was half joking but I just said no, that I'm sorry but I wasn't going to drive across town to pick up her lunch. I wasn't rude, but I was firm and I've never been asked again. It's just a personal thing, I would intensely resent having to do that.

Posted 5 months ago Well not me... at least not yet. There is a girl in the office that is now the coffee go-fer, lunch go-fer, or anything else to keep her job go-fer. She's made one too many mistakes and is fearing that she'll be fired any day now. I guess she feels that if she plays the "waitress" she'll be spared.
