This, Not That: HEALTHY Office Snacks to Order for the Breakroom

Fresh, whole foods versus processed food.
AdminSecret.com
Sometimes, I dream about planting an apple tree in my office lobby, so everyone could grab a nutritious treat without leaving the building. Alas, something about “building code” won’t allow it.
More and more doctors and nutritionists hammer into us to eat little to no processed foods and focus on “whole foods.” Processed foods have too much salt and killer fats. Unfortunately, most offices are stuck with whatever we can purchase from Costco or whatever will fit into our desk drawers. Here’s a list of the healthiest foods you can buy from Costo, Sam’s Club, Sysco, major grocery stores and other providers:
CHOOSE THIS:
Kashi TLC Bars: Pretty much anything you order from Kashi you know will be high-quality and healthy. These chewy granola bars are 140 calories, with 4 grams of fiber, 5g of sugar, and 7g of protein. Plus, they are addictive! Other great Kashi products for the office include TLC Cookies, Crackers, and Cereal Bars.
Other winners: Luna Bars, Fiber One Cereal bars
NOT THAT:
Nature Valley Granola Bars: Though the sunny package seems like it contains a wholesome treat, beware! One package has 180 calories with only 2g of fiber, 11g of sugar and 4g of protein. This ratio of sugar to protein and fiber is out-of -balance and will leave you feeling hungry later. These numbers are closer to a Snickers bar than our suggested Kashi bars.
Other losers: Quaker Chewy Bars, General Mills’ Cereal and Milk bars
